An orientation to Medical Mission

A unique 3-week intensive course for doctors, nurses and other health development professionals headed for, or returning from the mission field in less developed and disadvantaged societies. This course provides knowledge, understanding and skills to enhance the ability of personnel to participate effectively in health and development programs in developing countries and in remote parts of Australia.

o Objectives:

- Develop an understanding of key issues relating to life in the developing world and of the application of biblical principles of justice and mercy in health care;
- Discover ways of bridging the gap between technologically developed western practices and practices appropriate in developing countries;
- Become familiar with the principles of appropriate sustainable community development; and
- Extend their practical knowledge of specific health problems common in developing societies.

o Venue:

Tabor College, Christian Education Centre, 181 Goodwood Road, Millswood, South Australia and some practical components of the course will be held at the Flinders Medical Centre, Creche available.
