Notes: Spiritual Ministry: We firmly believe that our role is to bring hope and healing to the many suffering people that God brings to our doors. Often this will be restoration of physical health, but not always, and together with our chaplaincy & palliative care teams we strive to ensure that no-one leaves Kijabe Hospital without hearing the ‘Good News’ and experiencing the loving touch of our Heavenly Father.
Facility: The hospital currently has a 250-bed capacity. Inpatient services include general surgery and medicine (adult & paediatric), obstetrics, gynaecology and neonatology. Outpatient services include general acute illnesses and specialty clinics in diabetes, orthopaedics, ophthalmology, tuberculosis, gynaecology and AIDS. Clinical support services include X-ray, ultrasound, pharmacy, physiotherapy and clinical laboratory. The pathology department provides tissue diagnostic services to 37 mission hospitals in East Africa. Our Outpatient Department oversees >100,000 patients this year, and our five Operating Theatres will have performed >7,000 procedures. AIC Kijabe Hospital Outpatient Department Our hospital has an ‘open-door’ policy whereby we aim to treat those in need regardless of their socio-economic status, Karibuni! (Welcome!)
Needs: . General Surgery (whole year to cover for 'long-term' surgeon on Home Leave) - Family Medicine (from mid-year) - Int Med/Paeds (from late 2010) We also would like to recruit an 'engineer' who could be a 'maintenance supervisor' here at the hospital - this is a rather broad title, but some-one familiar with basic water, electric, plumbing, and project management skills who could cope with a large hospital!
